What is the anti-corrosion principle of TPEP anti-corrosion steel pipe?

It adopts a double-layer protection system of “inner EP and outer PE”: the fusion-bonded epoxy powder on the inner wall forms a dense three-dimensional network thermosetting coating after being heated by medium frequency, which can block the electrochemical corrosion of steel pipe by dissolved oxygen and chloride ions in water, and at the same time avoid secondary pollution during water transportation; the outer wall is a three-layer polyethylene (3PE) structure, the bottom epoxy is chemically bonded to the steel pipe, the middle adhesive layer connects the materials on both sides, and the outer high-density polyethylene can resist soil stress, plant root penetration, block the erosion of groundwater and stray current, and form a complete gradient protective barrier.

What is the typical service life of TPEP anti-corrosion steel pipe?

Under standard buried conditions, the expected service life of high-quality products can reach more than 50 years. Some products using reinforced 3PE technology can extend their service life to 80-100 years in normal environments. Compared with ordinary steel pipes, this can extend the maintenance cycle by 3 to 4 times and significantly reduce the operation and maintenance costs throughout the entire life cycle.

What are the differences between TPEP and traditional 3PE anti-corrosion steel pipes?

The core difference lies in the adhesion performance of the anti-corrosion layer: TPEP uses fusion-bonded epoxy powder as the bottom layer, which is chemically bonded to the surface of the steel pipe, resulting in stronger adhesion and better resistance to cathodic disbondment; some traditional 3PE products only have a simple bottom layer treatment, and are more prone to coating delamination after long-term use.

When purchasing, is it true that the thicker the anti-corrosion layer, the more durable it is?

This is not the case. The core of corrosion protection depends on three key indicators: the adhesion between the coating and the steel pipe substrate, the pinhole-free continuity of the anti-corrosion layer, and the compatibility of the jointing material with the main pipeline. Blindly pursuing ultra-thick anti-corrosion layers of more than 2mm will only increase the difficulty of on-site welding and easily lead to stress cracking of the coating.

What tests are required for routine maintenance?

Spark leak detectors can be used to check for pinholes and damage points in the anti-corrosion coating, and ultrasonic thickness gauges can be used to regularly monitor the corrosion and thinning of the pipe wall. Special attention should be paid to easily worn parts such as welds and elbows. With the installation of cathodic protection potential test posts, potential hazards can be detected in time, and sudden pipeline leaks can be avoided.
