Plastic-coated steel pipes combine the mechanical strength of steel with the corrosion-resistant and hygienic advantages of plastic coatings. The inner wall is smooth and does not accumulate scale, resulting in low fluid resistance. The epoxy coating is resistant to acids and alkalis, corrosion-resistant, and does not leach harmful substances. The outer wall can be coated with a single layer of plastic or reinforced with 3PE for corrosion protection. The pipes can be connected by threads, flanges, or grooves, making them suitable for both buried and exposed indoor installations. They overcome the shortcomings of ordinary steel pipes, such as being prone to rust, and plastic pipes, such as insufficient pressure resistance.

What’s the difference between plastic-coated steel pipes and galvanized pipes?

Galvanized pipes are prone to rust and scale buildup when transporting water; plastic-coated pipes have an epoxy coating on the inner wall for corrosion protection and hygiene, making them suitable for long-term drinking water transportation.

What is the difference between TPEP and single inner wall coating?

TPEP consists of an inner epoxy coating and an outer 3PE coating for corrosion protection, providing stronger corrosion protection for buried pipelines; single coating only involves spraying the inner wall and is mostly used for indoor pipelines.

Can plastic-coated pipes be welded?

On-site welding is not recommended. High temperatures will damage the coating. Grooved, flanged, or threaded connections are preferred. If welding is necessary, the anti-corrosion coating must be reapplied after welding.

Can it be used for drinking water transportation?

The food-grade epoxy powder coating meets drinking water standards, has no heavy metal leaching, and is a pipe material specifically designed for domestic water supply.

Does buried use require additional corrosion protection?
